What are Technical Rehearsals good for? If you want to get a glimpse of the 2025 Rio Carnival thrill, then you have to be there at Sambadrome to watch the technical rehearsals. All the samba schools gear up for the parade much in advance to vie for the championship spot.

To ensure a perfect finale the samba schools hold rehearsals with sound and light during the month of January and go on till February, so you can actually get a peek into the theme of the samba school parades.

Technical Rehearsals at Sambadrome

The best time to experience Brazil’s cultural heritage is during the Carnival, the biggest event in the world. You get to see the magnificence of the parades during the technical rehearsals at the Sambadrome, absolutely free of cost. You get to see the complex logistics involved in the largest event. The stadium comes alive with the samba music and in case you attended any practice sessions at samba schools, then you can just groove to the orchestra. It is during the technical rehearsals that you will get to wear costumes and interact with the supporters. 

With so much practice and rehearsals for the Carnival, it is the best time to learn samba songs and music. Technical rehearsals at Sambadrome follow a schedule, this will help you follow up with your favorite samba school program. The technical rehearsals give samba schools a chance to alter and make adjustments to their performances, while the samba school’s various departments take care of the costumes and floats. The rehearsals are a dry run sans costumes and floats, yet you get to see performers show off their best moves and grooves. 

Special Group Technical Rehearsals

Rehearsals start on January and run until February. The twelve Samba schools of the special group will warm up in Sapucaí on five consecutive Sundays and on the last Saturday before the parades. The entrance is free. 

Access Group Technical Rehearsals

The access group, from LigaRJ, known as Série Ouro, will always parade on Saturdays from January. Entry is free. 

The schedule of the Access and se Special Group's technical rehearsals at the Sambadrome will be defined around mid-December.
